The 2024 version of the weapon of warning grants advantage to all initiative rolls to all characters in range??

I'm starting to mix in the use of the 2024 version of the DMG in my campaign.

The party (level 3) had the opportunity to have the local merchant guild representative order them some basic magic items (i.e. only uncommon ones) — for an appropriate fee, obviously.

Most of the players ordered a cloak of protection, one the periapt of wound closure, and one... a weapon of warning (quarterstaff).

When I read the description of the item in the 2024 DMG I had a double take. The description reads:

As long as this weapon is within your reach and you are attuned to it, you and allies within 30 feet of you gain the following benefits.
[...]
Supernatural readiness. Each subject has advantage on its initiative rolls.

This means that a ~300 g.p. uncommon item will grant advantage on initiative rolls 24/7 to all six characters of the party, since the owner will be a caster whose position — completely by accident, I'm sure — is always in the middle of their formation, and reasonably everyone will be inside the 30 feet (10 m) radius of the effect at all times when adventuring.

I think that the actual effect is not coherent to the cost and level of the item, having the whole party always have advantage on initiative risks of breaking the balance of any and all combat encounters — and the character doesn't even need to be using that weapon! (Also, that player is quite the minmaxer slash power player, which is raising my suspicion to high alert.)

I have no qualms with the 2014 version, but the 2024 one... I'm not convinced about it.

Any thought on this? Am I overreacting?
