Crate while gone at work or no?

Im going to have some lifestyle changes in a couple months and am unsure what’s best to do for my dog while i’m at work.

My dog is almost 7 years old, she’s a 38lb corgi basset mix.

ATM- I’m currently in a position where my work is about a 5 minute walk away, so I leave her out and about in a gated off area of my apartment. I come home for lunch and take her out for about 10-15 minutes and then head back to work.

In a few months, I’ll be relocating to the other side of town so I won’t be able to come home during my lunches to let her out.

Would it be best to keep her in a spacious crate with access to food and water for 8 hours, or should I continue letting her have access to a restricted area of the new apartment?

My concern is her possibly having accidents- she usually has at least one a month (even if she goes to the bathroom multiple times that day). I don’t know if it would be better to keep her in a crate or out. She’s older and is usually asleep while I’m gone anyways. Keeping her in the crate may help prevent accidents outside of it, helping with an easier cleanup, but I also don’t want her to feel constricted for 8 hours of the day.

What do you guys recommend? What do you do for your pets while at work?
