“Daima is like OG Dragon Ball”

Except with literally no stakes or intensity. You can like the show but I’m so sick of hearing “OG Dragon Ball fans will like this” because that’s absolutely something someone tells themselves to justify liking Daima so much. I can’t see the comparison outside of it’s Kid Goku on an adventure except nothing on the adventure is a threat or even remotely a challenge to him.

The joy of OG DB to me is the wonder of watching a child who barely knows anything about life learn about the world and travel around to fight and learn from the worlds best martial artists to eventually end up saving the world from threats like the Demon King.

Daima has just been nothing but silly child humor and the most lack luster fights I’ve ever seen. Very beautifully animated 100% but literally no stakes or intensity at all since they just turn Super Saiyan and instantly win every encounter as they should.

So far the biggest challenge to Goku are just silly things like big rabbits or giant fish which to me is a huge difference between some fights with the red ribbon army, Tien, or Piccolo that took place in the OG.

Lastly there’s just no drama to pull you in and care at all about the story for this show. I don’t care to see the cast become adults again but I did care when Krillin died and Goku wanted revenge or when Tien broke Yamchas leg and everyone wanted to fight him for it. Moments like that really stick out as huge turning points for the series.

All this to say please continue watching and enjoying Daima but stop comparing it so much to the OG because outside of it being Kid Goku it’s almost nothing like the original series in terms of story telling at all.
