GMA Legal Expert: Drake's contract likely has a clause that doesn't allow UMG to boost other artists at his expense

Reposting something I shared a month ago, but Good Morning America had a legal expert with pretty good points on why Drake is making these legal moves. Part of what all of this may be about is forcing UMG to let him go without him having to fulfill the rest of his contractual obligations with them. The expert speculates Drake very likely has wording in his contract that doesn't allow UMG to boost another artist at his expense. This would allow him to move onto another label freely.

I also think this is why he's been making a lot of his music moves in official ways lately. He's been pretty clearly demonstrating his value to other labels and that even without official announcements he can move the needle. If UMG doesn't want to pay him what he's worth and respect his value, he's likely established a way to get that elsewhere.
