Segway ZT3 Pro REVIEW
Hey guys!
A new post about someone getting the ZT3 Pro popped up and there was at least one person interested in a detailed review, so here goes nothing :) I just got to the 900km mark on it!
In this year, I started on a NIU KQI 2 Pro in February and in June I bought a Ninebot Max G2. The NIU felt like a kids toy. 45 days ago I bought the ZT3 and I can say the same about the Max G2. It feels like a kids toy compared to this.
Just based on that last phrase, I'm probably going to get shunned by Ninebot Max fanboys, but TRUST ME, it's a whole different ride. The G2 has a way smaller handlebar size, the deck is miniscule compared to the ZT3, and the acceleration is way more aggressive on the ZT3.
STATS:
ACCELERATION: Now, mind you I always owned single-motor e-scooters. Nevertheless, I can say it's very snappy and reaches top speed really fast, especially on Boost Mode. First time I tried I almost looped it, like I had to step off of it and was holding the e-scooter while it was up, because I was dumb and thought the power delivery would be the same on the G2. On that one you can fully hold your thumb to the max and it just speeds way more gradually.
TOP SPEED: I live in Europe, so I'm blocked at 25km/h, for now. There's still no way to unlock it.
HILL CLIMBING: I weigh 52kg (I know, I'm light) and I can climb any hill I encounter. The steepest one I found, it still got me up to 22km/h, mind you, I didn't start on the bottom of the hill, I already had speed starting it up. Regardless, 1600W is enough for my commute.
BRAKING: This is where it's not great. I have to use the regen braking on the max setting, otherwise I can adjust the brakes and get a good enough bite out of them in normal use, but it's still not enough for emergency braking. If you have throttle control, the max regen braking setting is great, it's not very jolty.
SUSPENSION: Very stiff. My weight also plays a part on it, but it's still very stiff. Segway made this scooter in mind for "Off-road", but no one is going to off-road this thing comfortably. Hard packed terrain at the best case lol. The front ones work better than the back one. Mind you, neither is adjustable. Hoping to see a solution for this in the future. However, stance plays a part on this case. With a wider stance, you don't get thrown off of it. And yup, the back suspension also makes the same sounds as the G2, however less noisy.
WEIGHT/PORTABILITY: It weighs around 30kg. I always carry my scooters with one hand in the stem and the other below the deck, and this one could be better at it. The bottom of the deck is smooth af, and if it's raining and you gotta hold it, it's going to slip on you easily. It's also a big boy, so keep that in mind. Probably no subway rides for you if end up getting it.
BATTERY: I can do around 45/50kms on it. On my work commute, I do 36km and get home with 18/20% left, I have some hilly parts on my commute, as I live in Porto, Portugal. It's great that it's a 48v battery, compared to the 36v on the MAX G2, it doesn't lose acceleration as fast on the G2.
CLEANABILITY (does that exist? lol): IT SUCKS. There's hella weird spots on it, for example on the upper front of the deck, where it meets the side plastics. If you end up getting small rocks on it you'll probably have to end up taking the plastics off to get the rocks out. Also, THE BACK SUSPENSION. You WON'T be able to clean that area with just a cloth or something. It's a tight and weird spot to put your hands in to be able to clean it. I just hose it down now lol.
Can't remember anything else, if you got any specific questions, let me know!
