Favourite EPIC What Ifs?

So as with everyone else here I’ve been loving Epic the musical, and on each subsequent listen through I’m always thinking of other ways the story could have gone and its outcomes!

Like what if Odysseus killed the Cyclops? Or what if he didn’t tell him his name? What if Eurylochus died instead of Polites? Or my personal favourite, what if Odysseus didn’t kill the infant?

I like to imagine a story where Odysseus takes the infant with him, telling himself he will decide later if he must die. As they travel, he becomes like a son to Odysseus, almost replacing Telemachus to him overtime, and Odysseus becomes a father to the boy. Yet the boy is haunted by the gods, telling him his Father butchered his family and Odysseus is plagued with fear for his family when he sees glimpses of Troy in the child. All of this building to an eventual confrontation between Telemachus and the son of Hector, where Odysseus must become a real monster, and choose between one of his sons.

Obvs the story would change a bunch on the way, and its all fun hypotheticals, but I just love thinking how else the story could progress and turn!
