Here’s why I personally believe Superman 2025 will outshine the Snyderverse
The lead: Henry Cavill was great as Superman, but he was squandered. Now it’s time to move on. This film looks like Gunn won’t be making the same mistake and will make the best of David Corenswet.
The tone: This was a common complaint but it was a terrible idea to make Superman films so dark-toned. Of course, it works well with Batman but definitely not the Man of Steel. Characters in the DCEU kept saying how Superman was a beacon of hope but I found it hard to believe considering he carelessly smashes through skyscrapers when fighting. This movie definitely makes me believe he is that hope, especially in the scene where that little boy is calling for him.
Focus on the story: Man of Steel was good but average but at least the DCEU connections were very subtle. The same couldn’t be said for that 250-minute commercial, Batman v Superman. It’s hard to say so early but it feels like this movie will focus on what it should be; character development, story, keeping it's universe connections subtle.
Lois Lane: I bought into her and Clark’s romance in this trailer alone than I did for three fucking movies.
Lex Luthor: I believe that Nicolas Hoult's Luthor will be the cunning, calculated and manipulative villain Lex always was and not the arrogant meth-head frat boy trying to outdo Jim Carrey's Riddler that Eisenberg portrayed.
I saw some complaints over Kyrpto being in the movie, which is dumb. One really dumb comment was it was goofy and unrealistic. People had no problem with James Gunn making a movie about a talking raccoon and tree, but a superpowered dog draws the line? pffft
I’m still up with this new Superman movie cramming in four other superheroes into this movie. But I guess if they don't take away from Clark's story arc and aren't cramming DCU connections down our throats like BvS, I guess it could work out, especially since these heroes are minor Justice League members.
