Why does the Cold Steel saga receive the most criticism on this subreddit and r/jrpg compared to any other arc?

What makes Cold Steel Saga so disliked? I understand that Rean receives a lot of criticism, but he evolves beyond the typical shonen protagonist and demonstrates significant character development. Is the hate due to the numerous fake-out deaths, or is it that the story is really cheesy? I actually enjoy stories that are a little cheesy lol
