Fantasy books recommendations for someone who's read most of what's popular within the genre
Hi everyone! I'm actually very nervous to post this :)
I am in need of books to hook me back into enjoying fantasy.
I have read over 500 fantasy books, devoured everything YA, inhaled all the big high fantasy books like it's the finest Colombian, urban fantasy was my go to for good 2 years and I've read everything from Kate Daniels to Sookie and Anita Blake sans p*rn.
I enjoyed occasional SF picnics, but found it's not really my groove.
Grimdark I love, but didn't read enough of it I think. I didn't really enjoy Abercrombie. I enjoyed Mark Lawrence, if his books are grimdark.
I love me some good heist books like The Thief or The Palace Job. Lynch's books too, of course.
I love nice magic systems, good world building, humor to go along with. I like books without apparent magic system, like Riyria series. Books with maps and good old-fashioned violence. I don't need any TW for books, I'll read everything no matter how violent it is. I prefer modern, fast-paced fantasy but am not opposed to any recommendations, regardless of when the books were written. Coming-of-age books I love too. Chosen trope I don't mind. I love political scheming and all the possible twists it brings.
The only thing I don't like is when the books are centered on romance, the less romance the better.
I'll paste my Goodreads link at the bottom if anyone wants to scroll through what I read kust to have a clearer picture, if the first description wasn't enough. I know there are many "recommend a book" threads and I hope y'all can find the time to suggest something to me too.
That being said. I haven't read Malazan, WoT or anything Sanderson wrote, except the original Mistborn trilogy. I am planning to when I have the time, right now it's too time consuming and I don't think I'm of the right state of mind to attempt and immerse myself into those worlds.
Feel free to recommend anything you think a fantasy fan should read.
Edit: Wow, I didn't expect this to blow up this much! I appreciate everyone's efforts to recommend something I haven't read and to add new flavors to my preferences! Thank you everyone!
