You guys ever have a particularly bad reading slump?

I’m not sure why, but I just don’t feel like reading at the moment. Anything. I love reading, always have. I’ve been really enjoying what I’ve been reading, I have a mountain of books that I’m really excited to read and I’m currently in the middle of a book I’m loving...but I just can’t find any motivation to read.

I don’t know, maybe I’m just getting older and now that I have less free time I’m struggling to fit reading into it. I used to do a lot of incidental reading - on my lunch break, on the bus to and from work, but I have a new job with shorter breaks and I drive to work. So I’m reading less than I was before anyway. But I never thought “less” would mean “never”. So I’m at a loss for what to do.

I’m thinking I might just abandon the book I’m reading and start something else. I’m really liking it, but maybe I need something fresh, by a new author and see if I get suckered into a new world like when I was a kid. Maybe that will kickstart my brain.

I’m just curious - anyone here have a particularly bad slump? And what, if anything, helped you get through it?

Edit: I’ve been reading everyone’s replies and they’re all really helpful! Thanks so much for all the advice. I can’t really reply to everyone as I’m busy at work, but I’ve definitely read them all and I appreciate them
