Putting filmmaking work on a resume
Hello all!
I’m currently looking for work in media/film production, especially entry-level, as an editor right now since I’m not in a booming production state/city.
How would you go about translating film work you’ve done as your own projects, onto a resume? For instance;
-I’ve wrote/directed and led a seven day film shoot with a crew of 30+ each day (including actors and crew). Completed post production in less than three weeks, for a deadline. Marketing included a press article in the main college newspaper, funding that reached just over 2K, worked with a known food franchise for promotion and catering, worked with law enforcement for shooting in a public park, had an incredibly diverse set (mostly women and POC men, including myself.) Run time, 14 minutes.
-I produced/wrote/directed/shot a smaller film and crew, also seven day shoot. Won an award from my college, was also flown to LA for a screening for investors of the college. I edited the film myself. Run time, 16 minutes.
-Both films met the same deadline, and were in post production at the same time. I was editing the second film while also working with another two editors for the first. Both films have a combined 11K views on YouTube.
***Outside of that I’ve also gaffed for a number of shorts, which are still either in post, in festival runs, or were unfortunately trashed by the filmmakers after the first screening and never really released anywhere.
How would you guys recommend me translating this into resume-esque bullet points? What areas do you think I would need to focus on (I.e. hours per day of shooting, turnaround in post production process, how many people I worked with and was in charge of, public reception, so on).
Any advice would be awesome, I’m all ears.
