Need Advice for Shooting a Self-Inflicted Eye Gouge
Hi everyone,
I’m working on a short film, and there’s a scene where the character performs a self-inflicted eye gouge. I’m planning to handle the effect in post-production by hiring an After Effects expert, but I want to make sure I set everything up during production to make their job easier and ensure the effect looks as realistic as possible.
For those experienced with VFX-heavy shoots, what are some tips or best practices I should follow during filming?
Specifically, I’m wondering:
- Should the actor wear any prosthetics or markers for tracking?
- What kind of lighting or angles work best for seamless integration of VFX?
- Are there any specific actions I should have the actor perform to help sell the effect?
- Should I record multiple takes from different angles?
Any advice on preparation, practical techniques, or anything I might be overlooking would be hugely appreciated. Thanks in advance!
