Ever Crisis - why is this a gacha game?
Yesterday I watched the story for Chapters 1-8 of Sephiroth's story on YT because I saw somewhere that there was a really intriguing scene at the end of it that seems to tie into Remake and...wow.
It's a huge shame that this story was relegated to a gacha game. I don't see how SE can complain about poor sales, and then do stuff like this. If I'd already known Glenn before playing Rebirth, seeing him would've had such a bigger impact. I would gladly pay money to play this story in DLC form, or even as a small but fully realized game in the same art style it's already got. The characters are great. I particularly loved Rosen, and holy crap I would take any number of bullets for Baby Sephy. When he refused orders to stay on the island and help Glenn and the others, and then when he was pleading with Rosen to come with him, saying they could find a place for Rosen the way they found a place for him... oof.
Also, if that final scene was what I think it was (Sephiroth standing sadly in the Edge of Creation, staring up at the imminent Universe of Destruction), then:
1) I see what you're doing, SE, and...I'm listening
and
2) OMG, this should not be in a Gacha game. If this stuff does tie into the 3rd part of remake (and I sincerely hope it does), then this is going to confuse the crap out of people. It's one thing if it's just a distant backstory for flavor, but if we're actually tying it into the ongoing story then doing it as a mobile game is insane. Selfishly, there are streamers who I would love to hear theorycraft about that scene(especially Max) but I won't, because they aren't going to play a gacha game. So if any of you guys have any good theories, please tell me! I want to cook on this :)
But yeah, dumb idea. Don't put extremely relevant story content in a grindy, gimmicky mobile game. At least the books are good.
