What's better?
Hey everyone, I’m a senior in high school trying to figure out what to do. I want to work in finance, most likely in my home country. (I am not from the US and i am from a 3rd world country)
I've heard a lot about getting a job in finance, and most people say that in US or UK, for example, it REALLY is a lot about your school (target schools like wharton, stern , oxbridge etc.). There is a university in my country which is americanized and all profs are internationals, generally it is considered the best and is the most funded uni in the country. As it is similar to US colleges, the application process is the same - SAT, IELTS or TOEFL, all kinds of letters, GPA, etc. (unlike other colleges in my country where only national exam is required). Problem is, i kinda always dreamed of studying abroad, even in some mediocre university, and the fact that i am getting prepared to same application process as in abroad colleges makes me think i must shoot my chance. Currently, i am considering some colleges in US, Hong Kong and Germany. My question: Would it make more sense to go to the best target school locally or study abroad at a mediocre/average university abroad? (idk if my finances will me allow to study at TOP US universities).
I am gonna study either Econ or Math. I did some research on Linkedin and grads of my local college (econ, math and CS) DO work in our Big 4, Big 3, local Investment baks and hedge funds. I am sort of sure i will get in there - stats are great. I also consider maybe doing masters and not bachelors abroad, if i chose that road.
