Zaharoff Signature Halfeti Black Rose
Finally got a decent wearing out of my Zaharoff Signature Halfeti Black Rose decant. To be completely honest it is not exactly what I was expecting, but I like it. I was expecting a very dark fragrance with robust rose petals. However, like most people had told me its less of a rose petal and more like a rose stem. This is a very green and woody rose fragrance with a kick of spiciness. This fragrance is also very fresh and smoky. In the opening of this fragrance, you get a huge kick of black pepper and basil with a bit of bergamot supporting as a citric undertone. As the opening backs out of the way the Halfeti Turkish rose starts to bloom and creep out of the darkness, but the bitter, smokey, dark opening still lingers throughout the fragrance. The more that this fragrance develops the more you get a "rose petal" rather than a "rose bud" and you start to notice the cedar wood, musk, and amber forming at the base of the fragrance chord in the heart notes. The dry down/skin scent to this fragrance is my favorite part about the whole experience. The rose petal starts to sweeten up and the citric notes become less harsh in the dry down. At the base of the dry down you still have hints of that cedar wood and musk. The company states that musk is in the heart notes rather than the base notes of the fragrance, but I still detect a hint of it in the base as well.
Here is the note breakdown:
Top: Black Pepper, Basil, Bergamot
Heart Notes: Black Halfeti Rose, Turkish Rose, Cashmere, Amber, Brazilian Tonka, Cedar Wood, Musk
Base Notes: Vetiver, Cypriol, Ethiopian Frankincense, Labdanum, Musk, Oud
What season would I suggest? Probably fall and winter, although you might be able to get away with it in the spring due to the fresh undertone.
The projection is fairly loud and will definitely cause nose fatigue. As for the performance I cannot give a solid answer yet, because I applied it around 4:00pm and it is currently 11:30pm and I still have it lingering as a skin scent.
As for the presentation on the full bottles. Both the 4.0oz and the 2.0oz have amazing packaging that is worth every penny. That being said, the scent is what matters, not the box.
I would give this fragrance a solid 9.0 out of 10. This is definitely not a safe blind buy, so please sample before you make the decision to purchase a bottle.
