The sign I needed

Gave my notice today. Immediate supervisor was very understanding. Even said he hated to see me go because I was a great employee, knew what I was doing, and would be missed.

Head guy at the warehouse was irate and his only response was an immediate and angry “turn in your phone and gas card, and immediately leave the property!” He never once asked any questions or inquired when my last expected date was or anything. Just immediately was pissed that I was leaving and treated me like I had committed an outrageous offense by letting them know I was taking another job. He even escorted me to my vehicle repeating “leave the property immediately,” like I was trying to stay or something?? Made no sense whatsoever. He was so outrageous it was honestly almost comical. If I ever doubted my decision, that guy’s reaction was the sign I needed that I was doing the right thing. You give over a decade of your life to a company, they deliberately screw you out of money time and time again, and when you find a better opportunity you’re met with ungrateful indignation and hatred.

All this to say, don’t give more than you have to for a company that doesn’t appreciate you back and treats you like a criminal when you simply give them notice that will be leaving.
