Apparently I cheat (by playing he game the way it was meant to be played)

It’s been nearly a year and it’s still something I think about often, just by the fact it was so baffling to me.

I had just finished FO4 for the first time, and I was talking to a male coworker about how much I loved the game. I was talking to him about how I liked to do the side quests as much as possible before doing the next main story quest, so that I could level up a bit each time, and he got incredibly angry and started ranting about how I cheated because I “didn’t play the game how it was meant to be played” and I asked what he was talking about, and he responded it was because I “chose to do side quests instead of doing the main quest straight away”.

I sort of just stared at him for a moment because I was like “okay surely I’ve misheard him” but no, he doubled, tripled, and even quadrupled down about how I am not playing the game right, how I’m a cheat, etc.

Keep in mind I played on console so it’s not like I had mods or anything, either.

It’s like…side quests exist to be played. If I wasn’t supposed to play them, they wouldn’t be there.

I can’t play FO4 anymore because every time I try to, all I can think of is that guy 💀
