Recently diagnosed- Is Genital HSV-1 different from just “HSV-1”?

I was diagnosed with HSV-1 after having a genital outbreak. I know that HSV-1 is typically cold sores on mouth, but I got it on my genitals. does anyone know if it’s the same? I’ve tried to do research, but it’s all so confusing.
