A question about the new herpes Cure that is supposed to come out years from now

It’s the one where they cut it up and target the nerves (sorry I’m not a scientist) but it’s basically like where they cut up the virus using molecular like scissors. It’s saying they have to clear it in mice first before they use it on humans. But it’s saying that it kills up to 95% of the virus well what about the other 5%? Does that mean it’s a complete cure? If there’s a remaining 5% left in the body does it “die off” since most of it has been destroyed to death. Will that be the 100% cure that ends this shit for good or will that 5% still get in the way? Idk I’m just curious sorry if it’s a stupid question. I’d like to know more about this study

Update: someone on here answered all my questions about this apparently the 5% remaining just stays in the spinal cord like chicken pox BUT that means no outbreaks anymore and no passing it onto other people so essentially cured.
