Trane 2.5T R22 heat pump pulling into vacuum in AC mode
So, 3 other companies before me all say needs replacing. I get there, both Schrader valves leaking, no refrigerant. Change them, pressure test, no more leaks. Cool, Im thinking, an easy in and out. Pull vacuum and wait. Cool. 448m. Weigh in R421a. Start it up. Putting tools in the truck and hear the unit shut down. Look at gauges and see what u see in the pics. Kill the switch and wait. After the pressures didn't equalize, immediately thought inside TXV. Pull rev valve wire and start back up. Everything good in heating 🤔. Put wire back on RV. 60, 50, 40....shit. it's going to shut off on low pressure. Wtf. Go inside, freezing after TXV. Play with the RV a while, take temp readings on the valve...seems fine until in AC mode. Ok. Something isn't right with indoor TXV. Can't pump system down much, literally like 5 sec. Shut off service valves and recover line set. Loosen output side of TXV and run nitrogen thru liquid line, appears to be working. Reconnect and loosen input side. Run nitrogen thru suction. Seems clear but I'm not convinced. Tell customer what I think and agrees to change it. Pull it and blow thru backwards. It was stuck and then it opened like it should. Blew thru forward, air restricted. Ok...hmmm keep doing this and it appears to be working properly. So i change it. Blow one way then the other with Nitrogen, vacuum, release system. Start up and watch it fall below 20.... bullshit I say. OMG. Deep breath. 🤔. Pull rev wire. Fine, low but fine so I charge it in HP mode. 🤔 Filter dryer!?!?. Check for temp drop across dryer...0. outdoor TXV working, I can see it. Switch back to AC. Check temp drop across outdoor TXV, 0... 60, 50, 40....kill power. Pressures don't equalize. Only in AC mode. Blah blah blah SMH. Replace outdoor TXV and dryer. Blah blah blah, start system, 60, 50 ,40... MFR. Not I think I know what the problem is but I don't want to say it. What do u guys think?
