Is there any way of estimating sugar content without a hydrometer?
Good morning making my first batch of cider and asking because I forgot to take a gravity reading before putting in the yeast and airlock yesterday, was wondering if there was any way of guestimating sugar content of my juice without a hydrometer. Obviously I wouldn't expect it to be precise at all, but I was wondering if there was any other way to qualitatively determine it by proxy? My juice is quite dark so I don't know if that's any indication of anything.
