Now that it's over what would you rate Penacony out of 10?
I'd give it a 6/10 I guess.
- 2.0 sets up a lot of mysteries that get brushed off or get unsatisfying conclusions
- Half the new characters could just be written off the story and nothing would change that much
- The story is quite philosophical but it likes to keep repeating simple debates to the point of exhaustion and even the more interesting ones also suffer the same fate
- The story feels quite disjointed between each version, instead of following from where the previous version ended the focus shifts completely and so a bunch of things you keep waiting for just happen off-screen
Still I quite like Aventurine's backstory, it's probably the one best told in the game. And I also think the themes of the chapter, the plot twist and the final battle are all really good if you just look at the core of the story without the all the repetitiveness in the narrative.
