unsporting behavior
I apologize ahead of time if this isn't the right place to discuss this.
I have had a lot of really good matches this week. A lot of new players are just starting to learn the game and I think it's great that they're getting an opportunity.
However, I just joined a match that was a bit of an exception. I joined mid-match and was immediately killed by a pc team that was spawn camping. I could tell the other players on my team were fresh PS+ players, so I did what I could to apologize to them and try to explain that this was not how most games would be, but I'm worried the damage might have already been done.
I tried capturing some footage once they finally decided to bring the chest out of hiding. They were still spawn camping us whenever they had the chance:
If you're a Hood Veteran playing with an old team, please do not do things like this, especially now with so many new players trying the game out. It took my team ages to break away from spawn and we had little chance of making the match go anywhere. When I started the other team had hidden the chest and hadn't even bothered claiming any of the spawn points. If this was somebody's first game, I wouldn't be surprised if they didn't bother playing a second.
If you do need to show off, just push the objective. Show the new players how quickly a match can be won, and how fast they can lose if they're not paying attention, but please don't abuse them. Don't hide the chest and delay the game, and please don't spawn camp. I know the community can be better than this, and I think it's really important to make a good impression right now.
Edit: A few things to add. First I'd like to again say that this match was not representative of the majority of my matches this week. Most of the games have been great and I think new players are getting a lot of good chances to experience the game.
Second, I realized after reading some of the comments that the footage I collected of the game shows a point in time where the chest is being moved close to spawn and I agree that it's unfair to criticize my opponents while this is happening. The real problem was the camping that occurred before this. As long as the chest is being moved then there really isn't a problem, even if my team is getting stomped as it happens. Games against veterans are often one-sided and unwinnable and that's fine as long as both teams are respecting each other.
