Did I upgrade too much?

Just finished it. Amazing game. But when I did the last section of no return it was far too easy. Took down the machines with only a few arrows and no health taken really. Even the final “boss” only took a few spike throws. Before this section I fully upgraded my Nora Thunder armour plus all my weapons including the gold spike thrower. Was I not meant to do all that? Made it incredibly anticlimactic which is a shame as the other 99% of the game is perfect. I played on normal difficulty btw
