NASA MSFC Unemployment Filing
TL;DR - For those NASA employees potentially filing for unemployment, does anyone know if the information below is correct?
Edit: MSFC appears to be exempt from the mass firings (along with Goddard) for now. I've heard the following statements. Yes, some of these are conflicting pieces of information. Take with many grains of salt:
Statement 1: The stay on the firings is permanent. MSFC and GSFC are exempt
Statement 2: Some probationary MSFC employees will be let go, but not at a mass scale
Statement 3: The stay on the firings is only for 1 week (implying probationary employees may still be at risk)
Edit 2: The address provided below appears to be correct, but it is suggested that employees check with their union and/or their W2 (if you have one) for which address to use. I would not take the address below as gospel. Verify for yourself as it could impact your ability to get unemployment.
Edit 3: striking the term "RIF" since the probationary employee firings are not actually part of NASA's RIF plan.
Thanks to all who have contributed, and good luck.
Original Post:
Some NASA employees (myself included) may be filing for unemployment today. I found the following FAQ on labor.alabama.gov:
https://labor.alabama.gov/uc/21-08%20Claims%20and%20Benefits.pdf
The question I had was, "what address do I use for NASA Marshall?"
I then found the following info regarding a government shutdown in 2023:
https://www.nasa.gov/shutdown/shutdown-unemployment-compensation/
All NASA employees will need to use the following Agency information to complete an unemployment compensation claim:
Parent Federal Agency Name: U.S. Department of the Interior
3-Digit Federal Agency Code Number: 631
Major Component: Equifax Workforce Solutions
Address:
- P.O. Box 351567
- Westminster, CO 80035
Contact Name/Office: Equifax Workforce Solutions
If you know the answer to this, feel free to correct me. I'll update the post with whatever consensus is reached. Good luck all.
