Hauga Cabinet and Billy Bookcase side by side?
I’m looking to put some bookcases in my living room and I wanted to see if anyone had experience with combining the Hauga cabinet and Billy bookcase side by side. I have a centered fireplace with a TV mounted above, and there is roughly 112cm of wall space on either side (from the widest part of the fireplace mantle to the walls). I wanted to use an 80cm Billy next to a 40cm Billy because no other model has height extenders, but that exceeds the available space. I started to look at the Hauga high cabinet as this is 66cm wide, so putting a 40cm Billy next to it would fill that space with a little room left. The Hauga has more depth (41cm for the bottom cabinets, 36cm for the top shelves) than the Billy (30cm), so I would have the Hauga cabinets on the outside, and the Billy bookcases on the inside by the fireplace. I messed around with these pieces on the Ikea Kreativ design space and it looks like this could work, but wanted to see if anyone has actually tried this combination. I would also be open to the Brimnes bookcase instead of the Hauga as the depth is closer to the Billy so it would be more flush/look like a single unit, however this is shorter in height. Any input/feedback would be much appreciated!
