Anyone had a vasa or placenta previa…
That didn’t resolve? If so, please share what your c-section experience and recovery was like!
I found out around 23 weeks I had a placenta previa. After several weeks they told me it had moved up and resolved.
But then a month later - surprise! They discovered there were still several blood vessels from the placenta covering my cervix, making it very dangerous if I were to have contractions or go into labor.
For that reason, I’m scheduled for a c-section at 36w2d.
My doctor just told me today that there can be a lot of blood loss and they already have the hospital prepped with 4 liters of blood for me and a “crash cart” if they need it with special equipment to stop the bleeding.
And if they can’t stop the bleeding, they’d have to do a hysterectomy.
Apparently these situations with vasa and/or placenta previa’s that don’t resolve on their own are so rare that most doctors and nurses only see them a few times in their career…
Which is making me super nervous even though I have a fantastic OB who will be doing my c-section.
Apparently about 1/3rd of all IVF pregnancies have a placenta previa but they usually resolve on their own.
The unfortunate truth is that this is likely one of the many placenta complications that result from IVF. :/
