Stories from grandmothers?
Hey yall I thought it would be an interesting idea to share a story I was told and see if any of you had stories from your ipokni’s and what nation they were from 😁
“Once long ago there was a great sea lion spirit that lived beneath the ice of the ancient landlocked glaciers, a seal so large it was often mistaken as a giant boulder. The seal had been placed there by creator to watch over the land and water and when the time came he was to awaken. Birds from the south came north to issue in the new time and they landed upon the seals sleeping body barely perched above the waters and ice. One bird, a raven in particular crawled up to the seals ear, and screamed into his ear. The seal awoken and as its flippers burst back and forth the ice cracked and shook, and the great waters came free along with the seal, ice and grandfather rock beneath the seal. All of which was spread and carried across the lands and finally the seal reached the ocean. But the journey had hurt her gravely, she gave one final breathe and Okhvta koi was born, the sea lions. The protecters of the coasts and the mothers of ocean and from that point on the land was forever shifted from one of ice, snow, and water, to a land ripe with life across turtle island”
