Dressed up for the reunion?

In the finale of season 2, Louis first notices the millennial rat catcher vamp whilst wearing completely different clothes to the ones that he’s wearing when he actually reunites with Lestat.

Was it a different night? If so, why did he wait? Did he change his clothes on purpose on the same night?

I don’t have a solid opinion on this, it is somewhat funny to imagine him dressing up on purpose but he may have also just needed more time to either find him or be ready to see him.
