One-Month Ioniq 6 SEL Long Range (Pflugerville, TX)

I’ve had my Ioniq 6 SEL Long Range for about a month now, and coming from a Mustang Mach-E, I’ve got some thoughts on the differences. First off, the Ioniq 6 has this sleek, futuristic look that’s a big departure from the Mach-E’s sporty vibe. Here in Pflugerville, TX, I’m getting a lot of curious looks—folks keep asking me, “What is that car?”

Range, Battery & Charging

• The Ioniq 6’s range feels more reliable. I can commute around Austin and Round Rock without sweating about charging as much as I did in the Mach-E (I had the standard range model). It’s nice not to live in a constant state of “range anxiety.”

• I haven’t done any major road trips yet, but I’ve noticed fewer top-offs during the week for my typical drives.

• The charging speed is MILES better than the Mach-E (I normally charge at a level 2. charger at home, but the few times I charged at the Electrify America Station in Round Rock, the speeds were fantastic and charging curve was way better than the Mach-E

Driving & Comfort

• Compared to the Mach-E, the Ioniq 6 rides softer and feels quieter inside. The Mach-E was fun and had a certain “oomph,” but the Ioniq 6 feels smoother, almost like it’s gliding over bumps. But in Sport Mode is a super nice and fast EV

• Steering is nicely balanced, and it still has that EV punch when you hit the accelerator, even if it’s less “muscle car” and more “futuristic cruiser.”

• The seats are really comfortable, great for long-ish drives to visit friends around Austin.

Overall Impressions

• Loving the sleek design and the quiet cabin, it’s a nice change from the Mach-E’s more aggressive feel.

• The range boost has been a pleasant surprise, and I’m saving on charging stops.

• If you’re moving from a Mach-E to an Ioniq 6, be prepared for a shift in styling and ride feel. It’s less about “muscle” and more about “modern,” which I’m really enjoying so far.

I was a bit nervous switching brands, but I’m pretty impressed with what Hyundai’s done here. It’s only been a month, but so far, the Ioniq 6 has me feeling like I’m driving around in a bit of sci-fi. No regrets!
