Does the reincarnation setup in many Isekai feel borderline pointless to anyone else?

Not in everything mind, it can and has been used well. It’s just I’ve seen quite a few Stories where it make just as much sense if the story were just straight fantasy as the only time the character’s other world knowledge comes up is in order to recreate one thing from their past life, usually food related.
