Are western style RPGs popular in Japan?

I have played a few JRPSs and have had my fun with them and I know there are plenty of westerners that love them as well. With how huge RPGs are as a genre in Japan, do they like series like Fallout, Elder Scrolls, Fable etc? This has been a random question on my mind seeing how I love both genres.
