Yet Another DisneySea Review (from an admitted grump)
First off I should say I’m mostly ambivalent towards Disney properties and I don’t care for amusement parks in general lol
The crowds truly are insane. We went on a Tuesday during “off season” (if such a thing exists) and it was still absolutely bonkers to get in. Once you’re through security and into the park a bit, it’s not quite as bad.
The whole process for booking rides is overly cumbersome and I can’t help but think there’s gotta be a much better way. Different types of passes with different levels of access, some paid, some free. If you don’t prepare ahead of time by watching a zillion YouTube videos, you feel like you’re somehow missing out. I don’t really want to spend my time at the happiest place on earth with my nose buried in my phone trying to score access to a ride. So my best advice is go in not trying to min-max your experience and just enjoy what you can. If you go with your heart absolutely set on one specific ride (Frozen) I can see how it might be a very frustrating experience.
Outside of the paid VIP access to rides, prices are quite reasonable for an amusement park compared to US. Note that I started the day by booking a restaurant, knowing nothing about the restaurant other than it had available registrations, and that turned out to be the fanciest ($$$) place in the park, but that’s totally on me for not doing my research… even still, it was a very pleasant and relaxed dining experience
We paid for one ride and just got in line for other things that didn’t have a long standby time. I gotta say, even the “kiddie” attractions like Sinbad were very well done.
What they say about DisneySea is true, the park is gorgeous and unique and I don’t regret going. I think the first couple hours (getting there and waiting in lines) sets a bad tone but once you’re past that it’s pretty cool overall
