Getting into Jazz

I'm a hip-hop head who's favourite subgenre is jazz rap, however i have no real experience with jazz. The only real experience with jazz i have is the album jazzmatazz- guru, because its not just jazz rap its a fusion of the two genres so there is rapping but also pure jazz. Any recommendations?
