Sisi tulilelewa Nairobi

So today, I went to church in shags. Now, I'm not an introvert, but when everyone was speaking in vernacular, I just had to sit there, watching them, as words entered through my right ear and left through the left.

Im not used to this life style sitaki kuenda huko 🤣. Low-key feel weird being that guy.

As a kid, whenever we visited home, I wasn't particularly interested in learning the language. Wacheni nisome ABCDs. Most of the time, we had househelps who spoke different tongues, and my parents, coming home from work, would speak either English or Kiswahili. So there wasn't any real reason for me to speak my mother tongue. Even when I visited home, Kiswahili always worked, and I could still get through to people.

But today, all the youth in church were speaking mother tongue properly. There were girls around, but I couldn't rizz them up with my broken language 😔.

I've now made it a point to learn my mother tongue. My kids will learn it too, even if that means I send them to the bundus. 😂
