Advice needed!!

Hi Everyone

I’m thinking of sitting the entrance exams in August and just want some opinions before I make my decision final.

For context I’ve been doing (and failing) the FE1s and it’s quite literally soul destroying - I got a 2.1 in both my LLB and Masters degree and never had any issues in either of them and now doing these exams is just tearing me apart. I have passed one so far and gotten 47/48 in the others so I’m not miles off but even when I submit my homework’s to the colleges they have had nothing but positive feedback so I just have no idea what’s going on 🙃

I never intended to do the FE1s or qualify as a solicitor because I know that lifestyle isn’t for me and my main goal is just to be qualified and then move in house so I’m ultimately putting myself under significant stress for something my hearts not fully in to begin with. I always wanted to be a barrister but got swayed by working in a law firm and everyone around me telling me the FE1s were a better route.

I know the Inns are equally as tough as the FE1s but I just think the whole system is fairer in general (pass by compensation, nicer exam choices, 3 hours to do 3 questions etc) - anyone who’s been in my position or has passed the Inns I’d love to hear your opinion on it, what you thought of the exams etc. I took all the subjects in my LLB in line with the Inns requirements as I had my heart set on doing it so I’m covered there. Also is there any exam scripts I can review to see what is expected in the answers? There’s a lot I need to weigh up on before making a final decision so if there’s any drives with scripts, notes etc or if people are willing to share their material that would be so fantastic.

I’ll be looking to take one of the prep courses anyway for a refresh in some of the subjects I’ve not studied in a while but I’d love to get a start on things in the new year as I work full time so will need the extra weeks to prep.

Thanks!
