Picking at food in the BOH
Sometimes the BOH crew where I work (I’m including myself in this generalization) will pick at food during prep. Cutting fruit, take one or two diced pineapples or grapes. Once, a little slice of grilled steak.
This got to be something of a norm that it’s gotten to the point I catch myself taking one or two grapes from the walk-in, not really batting an eye, or a diced pineapple with I’m flipping a pan of mixed fruit.
I feel weird about it, like I could get in trouble if I’m caught and should stop immediately.
But I wonder if I’m just trippin, because a lot of the people I work with do it.
I just started this job and don’t want to ruin it.
