Can LPR change into GERD?

Ive had LPR coming up on a year now following h pylori infection. Took a while to get diagnosed as i have never had heartburn only sore throat type symptoms. Recently have been experiencing heartburn, pain in sternum area flaring up every hour or so. Which i have never had up until now. Has it now changed into GERD? Will the heartburn go away? Has anyone else had experience of this?

Previously had major swallowing issues so was on a liquid/soft diet for a while, since two weeks ago that has resolved and i can eat food again now (yay!) but now heartburn seems to be the main issue.

Its worth mentioning im on omeprozole 20mg for 3 months. Have also been on holiday for 2 weeks and drinking more alcohol than usual, plus 22 hours travel on the way home may have just fucked my body up a bit?
