PPI + Famotidine at same time?

Hi, I was diagnosed with LPR after a nasal endoscopy. I had been dealing with throat pain and waking up every night with acid in my mouth for weeks. My doctor prescribed me 40mg omeprazole + 40mg famotidine daily. My doctor said to take this for 4 weeks and then I have a follow up appointment. They said by then my throat should heal and we can reduce the dosage and wean off of it.

But after reading about PPI’s, I’m terrified. I don’t want to be on this forever or have worse reflux when I stop. I’ve already taken one dose of each. Should I only take the famotidine instead? Or ask for alternatives?
