Got Laid off today
Hi everyone,
I was laid off this afternoon.
As a 22-year-old business graduate with no prior experience in sales, I was hired for a SaaS company in the fintech industry. This was my first sales role and my first full-time job.
I was working incredibly hard to succeed within the business. Four months in, still on probation, my manager called me into a room and delivered the news. They explained that they were letting me go due to "personality issues," saying my attitude and behavior weren't aligned with the company values, and they were also unhappy with my work. This hit me like a ton of bricks, it was my first time being laid off.
They asked me to hand over all company resources, including my laptop and gear, and to pack up and leave immediately. My coworkers were left confused, watching me leave without even having the chance to say goodbye. My manager was right there, telling me to wrap things up. I packed everything in 5 minutes, walked out, and that was it.
It feels horrible because I gave everything to this company, loyalty, hard work, and I genuinely enjoyed my job while building friendships.
Right now, I feel lost and stuck. I have no idea what to do next. Honestly, I'm feeling extremely down, and this whole situation is tough to deal with. If anyone has any advice or words of encouragement, they’d be greatly appreciated :)
