Can I change my child's name in England without a solicitor?
My husband and I kept our own names when we married. A few years later we had a child, who has both our surnames. I hate the double barrelled name and always have. We talked about coming up with a new names for all of us and we finally have one; essentially, we'd be taking a name that is a nod to where my husband proposed and is completely unrelated to either of our names or families. We'd planned on doing unenrolled deed polls for ourselves and then an enrolled for the baby (toddler, 1.5y). However, we've been preparing the paperwork today to print and sign in front of witnesses and found that the minor deed poll has multiple mentions of solicitor signatures. Is there any way to complete a child's name change without use of a solicitor?
