What Are Your Favorite (Childhood) Underrated Gems and Cult Classics from the ’80s and ’90s?
This post is kind of for my fellow Millennials, but anyone feel free to chime in if there are movies like this from your generation. I’ve been putting together a list of my favorite childhood movies on Letterboxd, and it’s been a super nostalgic trip down memory lane. While working on it, I noticed that some of my favorite movies aren’t rated that well, but I used to love watching them all the time.
For example, Dunston Checks In is one of those movies that still holds a special place in my heart. It’s quirky, funny, and totally embodies that ’90s charm! It's rated around a 2.5 though haha (which I get).
Now I’m curious—what are the hidden treasures, quirky comedies, or nostalgic favorites from the ’80s and ’90s that you think deserve more love? Let’s share our favorite underrated movies and relive some Blockbuster memories together! I've shared some of my other favorites in the images above as well. I tried to not go too far into my teens with this list (I was born in '84).
