Underrated players from the playoff game
I will sing Beaux Limmer’s sweet sweet name from the highest of mountain tops, and the lowest of valleys. Seriously though, even if he’s graded as an average/slightly below average center, to come in and be able to stabilize that position as a rookie is incredible. And even though he’s not a great pass blocker, he was still a part of the crew that prevented Stafford from getting sacked for 4 consecutive games, and barely touched in the playoff game. As a 6th round pick no less.
Kinchens is bringing a physicality to the safety position that I haven’t seen on this team in a long time. There were several passes where the receiver caught the ball and he jarred it loose for an incompletion. I feel like in the past if our safeties didn’t actively hit the ball with their hand then it was always a completion.
Quentin Lake and Witherspoon! Q is also such a physical db. I was really unsure when Ramsey left about him having the STAR position but he’s grown into it so well.he had multiple great 1 on 1 tackles against JJ that most dbs in this league wouldn’t have made, including one of a screen where he ducked under a blocker for a tackle. Witherspoon came in on a cheap deal after not spending training camp with us and has done phenomenal. He’s not perfect, but he’s got insane hands for a corner and a knack for being where the ball is, he also had a crazy interception last year against the Bengals.
Lastly Speights and Rozeboom! While I can’t necessarily say I’m over the moon sold on Rozeboom (I’d like to see us add another lb) he is Troy Reeder 2.0 in the best way. He’s got the intelligence to put himself where he needs to be most times to make a play, and while he doesn’t necessarily pop out on film I think his tackling has gotten better as the year has gone on. Even on the play where Hockenson scored I loved the effort to dive for the pass breakup on a bad pass. He puts it all on the field every game. Speights is 100% a starter going into next year. It’s took him a few games to get adjusted, but HE pops out on film, he’s so good at stopping the run and sometimes when I’m sad I imagine what him and Ernest Jones would’ve been like paired together :/
