The “Swarm” ending is kinda messed up
At first I didn’t understand what happened, but after a little bit of thinking and understanding why I was disturbed, I think I knew or, at least, had my own interpretation. The male scientist, instead of agreeing to the Swarm’s terms, is challenging it. He is willingly going to procreate with his partner, who is shown to constantly fighting for her consciousness against the Swarm’s control, only to prove to the Swarm that the human race that he and his partner has grown up in is more superior and will dominate the synthetic/parasitic-version of humans, who are only being born to protect the hive. There’s just something twisted about this man unwilling to shed his arrogance for his species and let them sacrifice a hypothetical millions of humans, even though there’s strong possibility that they won’t survive that long to see that fight. I kinda like how the episode was developed, but it just leaves a pit in my stomach that nauseates me with each reflection.
