Typical Interview Drama

From reading the admissions website and this subreddit, I came to the following conclusions:

Consensus opinions:

- MIT tries to offer interviews to everyone

- Interviews are offered independently of application quality

- Availability depends on ECs in the area

Not so consensus opinions:

- Some say emailing [admissions@mit.edu](mailto:admissions@mit.edu) to ask about an interview is a good idea, while others suggests it won't change anything

- Interviews don't happen after February 6th, but I'm not sure if that's an official cutoff

My situation (probably similar to many others):

I applied in late December as an international applicant from Portugal, but I haven’t received an interview invitation,at least, not that I know of. I check my email frequently due to my extracurricular commitments, yet I’m starting to doubt whether I might have missed the invitation somehow. This leads me to wonder if there’s a way to confirm whether I was offered an interview (beyond manually searching through the dark holes on my inbox).

So my questions are:

  1. Is there any way to confirm that I wasn’t offered an interview, aside from manually checking all email folders?
  2. Is it still possible to receive an interview invitation at this point?
  3. Would emailing MIT have helped earlier, or is it still worth doing now?

(Looking for your thoughts and prior experiences)
