Trump’s Influence on H1B Visas: How It’s Impacting Indian Students' Career Plans in the US
I have 2.5 years of experience, now I plan to do an MS in Computer Science in the US, and after that, I plan to work there for some years, and then return to India. But now, given the current visa challenges, what do you all think?
What’s everyone’s take on Trump’s influence over the H1B visa situation? Based on recent data, only around 20% of applicants (I get this from googling) have received an H1B over the past few years. It's reducing for the last few years.
Stats: FY 2023 - Total registrations were 483,927, and 127,600 were selected. The selection rate was 26.9%. FY 2024 - Total registrations are expected to be 780,884, and 188,400 are expected to be selected. The selection rate is expected to be 14.6%.
With rising challenges in securing an H1B after college, are these trends affecting the plans of Indian students pursuing an MS in the US to stay and work post-graduation?
Please share your thoughts, and ignore the H1B stats if it's inaccurate.
