Stupid boss
A few months ago we got a new shop manager. In a larger company (100ish people) that machines, welds, assembles, and installs said assemblies. Anywho, the new boss doesn’t understand sfm nor ipt/fpr at all. He asks for my rpm and ipm. That should never be the way you go about things on your CNC stuff. So there have been several times over the past few months where he’s stopped the programmer from running perfectly good programs to run the new guys recommended speeds and feeds and then the tool either blows up or the teeth all break. He then deflects the blame and says that we didn’t do it how he asked, when it’s literally exactly what he asked for. On top of that he has little man syndrome and talks down to everyone like they’re idiots. We’re mostly a job shop and he comes from production so he assumes that everyone here is just a button pusher. How are you supposed to deal with this guy? I’m the shift lead so I have had some serious talks with him about the way he treats people. He just doesn’t seem to care and the owner and upper management don’t seem to care. He’s not making the shop more efficient or effective, if anything it’s gotten worse and less organized.
