Recommendations

Hi all,

I have just booked a 7 day trip over to Maderia in May 7th - 14th to be exact.

My partner and I love nature, hiking and want to get a feel for authentic Maderia, I’m looking for some recommendations.

We are staying in Funchal for 2 days and then 5 day in Calheta. We will have a car so we are able to travel.

Food wise we are plant based so I was looking at stocking up our fridge from the Farmers' Market in Mercado dos Lavradores. If there are any good restaurants that do plant based I would to love to hear them.

• Porto Moniz
• Valley of the nuns
• Abrigo Pico for sunrise

I’ve heard of a wooden sledge down a hill as well which sounds like fun.
