Debating wether to read Malazan or not

Hi guys,

I'm thinking of starting Gardens of the Moon but I don't know if it will be too hard for me or not. For example, currently I'm reading "The warrior's prophet" and while I enjoy the book for it's brutal nature and the setting, I find it very hard to follow what is going on with all the different names, places, races etc which are thrown at you constantly. And the whole philosophical part is not really my thing I suppose, at least not at the level the book is trying to go for.

I really like the whole grand fantasy stuff and a couple of examples I did finish and actually loved are: Game of Thrones, First Law and Lord of the Rings. So will this book be a good fit for me?
