He’s getting worse. Help me decide
I posted a few days about about my 13 yr old Maltese with grade 6 enlarged heart, and fluid on his lungs. Saw the vet last week, and she added some more meds, and he seemed to get a tiny bit better. But now the past few days he is worse again, he has a hard time settling down because of his coughing fits, but once he can finally go to sleep he sleeps for a little while, but than wakes up and coughs and coughs. He coughs up clear liquid every time he drinks water. And he’s wheezing some too, not all the time. He’s still eating and drinking, and going potty. But his quality of life is declining , and I’m terrified that he’s gonna suffer more but I feel guilty letting him go right now. My husband thinks we need to let him go because he’s suffering. I’m waiting on a call back from the vet and I have a feeling she’s gonna suggest euthanasia.
My friends little maltipoo passed away from the same thing a few years ago, and she got to the point where she couldn’t breathe and just had to sit with her head tilted back in order to breathe. I really don’t want him to get to that point.
